CE certification is a certification mark that indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA). 

It is mandatory for products within the scope of one or more of the European Union's (EU) 25 harmonized product directives. The CE marking is a legal requirement for products that are covered by these directives, and it indicates that the product complies with the essential requirements of the directive(s) and that it has been subject to conformity assessment procedures. The CE marking has been mandatory since 1993 and is recognized throughout the European Union.
